The marriage of Darryl's grandparents - Florence Emma Ireland and Sydney Walsh, 15 March 1927 at Hermit Park Methodist Church in Townsville.
I had a day in Brisbane, last week, for work, and apart from that managed to catch up with Anthea for 5 minutes. She has had an ulcer cut out of her thigh, which means she will be able to swim again, and is hoping for further surgery to help her to walk again. Unfortunately, getting her surgery meant she missed out on starting study in a prep course for Uni - but I guess she will get to do that another time.
Our Family History Association is currently running a beginner's course - the for 4 Saturdays in March, and I am assisting the presenter. It has been very popular, and quite a few people have joined up. We also had a display at the Heritage Village Craft Markets. I have been reading films at the Mormon church on Friday evenings. One is Scottish Old Parochial Registers, and the other is Military births, deaths and marriages at Stolp in Prussia in the early 1800s.
I am also very excited to have made contact with another Smith descendant - Graham McPherson who is descended from Helen Smith, youngest daughter of Alexander Dun Smith and Helen Turner. Graham's friend Anne is doing the research and we have been madly exchanging information.
I have a few things 'on the go' at the moment as I am making a new web-page for the Family History Assoc, and organising a 30 year School Reunion for my class from Charters Towers State High School.
