Trip to Greece & Spain - Day 30

We spent (wasted!) all day at the airport... the flight was delayed 3 hours due to storms at Barcelona, and although I had insurance which gave me lounge access for a delay, by the time we knew we had that delay it was too late to go to the other terminal where the 'free' lounge was.

Darryl was watching as they loaded the luggage and noticed they did not bother to load a couple of trollies of bags onto the plane! Thanks Vueling (Spain's budget airline) for leaving our luggage behind.

Here's our Vueling Jet

Our first view of Spain

We took the Metro to to our accommodation, without our luggage, arriving late at night. The shops were closed, and we had nothing except what we had in our hand luggage. The AirBnb was pretty substandard, as there was no 'breakfast' or even coffee. Luckily, I had some in my carry-on, so at least I could drink coffee. I usually carry spare underwear in my carry-on, but after my shower still had to put my sweaty clothes back on...yuk!

Trip to Greece & Spain - Day 29

We had an easy start, as we were really going over known territory. Additionally, the glands in my neck were still swollen, so I wasn't feeling 100%.

We returned to the Acropolis, as it is a huge park, and there was plenty more to see.

Pretty sure there's no-one really buried there!

I loved these rooftop gardens

The stadium again. We went closer, but closer you can't get a better photo

Trip to Greece & Spain - Day 28

We had decided to go to the beaches, but missed the first bus, so mooched around the Acropolis and saw other free things we'd missed, (for instance the tortoise), including real archaeology in progress.

Oh, and here's the Acropolis again! 😊

The magpies here look quite weird

The archaeology is still in progress

Taxi scooters rides up to the Acropolis.

This guy was charging for tourists to have their photo taken with him, but I snuck a photo while he wasn't looking!

Finally we got on the bus to the beaches, sat uptop  to see what there was to see, (and honestly it wasn't much).

Went to the end to Lake Voula.... which was a tourist trap.

Lake Vouliagmeni

Apparently spa water and spa fish, but cost 15 euros each to go in, so we sat and had lunch in the restaurant, (a milkshake, a beer and a kids meal to share cost 28 euros). The meal was meatballs and sweet potato fries, and was plenty for both of us.

We walked a little way back to a cove where I had a swim in the sea, and then at the beach. The we made our way back to the bus to return to town. I'd wanted to view the Roman Baths excavation, and we were heading to the markets again for a meal when Darryl changed his mind, so we came back home and got a few things from the shop just across the road.

Statues of politicians as far as I could make out

I had an occasional cough and only a tiny bit of a sore throat and swollen glands.
