Thursday
started with quite
heavy rain. We left
Navan, and cleaned
up the car at a shopping centre carpark, once the rain eased off.
After dropping
off the car at Dublin Airport,
we took
a local
bus into Dublin. While we sat
and had our lunch at Trinity
College, we saw that there was
a big long line of people
waiting to
see the 'Book of Kells' – it
stretched around the quadrangle.
For the afternoon we went
to the National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/
to start research on the family. Although
it was supposed to close at 5pm, we were kicked
out at 4:45, so walked back to our accommodation at The
Townhouse Hotel. This place had
an interesting history, and was decorated to match.
Dinner was
across the road at O'Sheas Pub,
and of course I had to have a
Guinness! Unfortunately, our room was on the 3rd
floor right at the front, and it was very hard
to sleep with the noise of
traffic and people in the street, so I had quite a bad night.
