First stop was Herberton Mining Museum where the staff helped me out with the locations of graves in Herberton Cemetery. We caught up with Darryl’s cousin Christine at Gallo then headed to Malanda Falls for lunch.

There was a lovely little rainforest bushwalk on the opposite side, and we were lucky enough to get quite close to a little wallaby grazing on the forest floor.
We drove down the 'Gillies Highway' to Goldsborough to check out which would be the best camping spot for us, then made our way to Innisfail and checked into the most wonderful spot at Riverdrive Caravan Park. It was a large green grassy area tucked away at the end of the park, right beside the South Johnstone River, and shielded from the road by a bank with fruit trees.
