O'ahu - Pearl Harbor

On our way to the airport we visited the Pearl Harbor memorial.

A short but very heavy shower had everyone sheltering for a few minutes

We dropped the hire car back with no problems, and I tried to find Darryl's tooth but the Lost and Found was closed as it was a Saturday (apparently you don't lose anything on a Saturday!). I had prepared our Coconut oil by solidifying it in the freezer overnight, and it made it through the scanners ok, despite some quite thorough investigation of the contents by the attendant. The flight to Hawai'i was uneventful.

We collected the next hire car, grabbed some groceries, and then drove to our accomodation. Steve, Heather and Justin had arrived earlier, and Shane, Jess and the kids were in the wing opposite us, and this fabulous face was my greeting when we went over to have dinner with them.

Thoroughly LOVED this catch-up!

Skyla captured 'the crowd' with something...

To round off the evening Steve, Justin, Marc, Darryl and I enjoyed a few hands of the card game "Frustration".

O'ahu

I had a Webinar so Darryl & Marc walked to a shooting range for Marc to 'have a play'.

It sure looks like he enjoyed himself!

After shooting we made sandwiches for lunch and took them down to Waikiki Beach to enjoy in the park.

Along the street we were bemused by all ABC shops and Hawaiian Cookie Company shops along the way, as there was one one or the other literally on every corner. But when we saw Tesla we had to check it out and ogle at the cars.

Yeah! That's what I want to buy at a cafe...SPAM!?!

There's Diamond Head Crater in the distance

Giants of the Ponds

After our long walk a cooling sorbet was a bonus!

Darryl complained that we were 'always on our phones'...but check out the next photo! 😂

Darryl 'following the crowd'!

We were going to wait for the fireworks but it would have been another 3 hours so walked back to the Hawaiian Cultural Centre and had food at the foodcourt. Darryl had pizza, Marc Stromboli and I had steak and shrimp.

Pickleball public free courts on the Army land

The whole Beach Comber sign is a vertical garden

Christmas all year around!

We had heard the fire sirens the night before when this surf shop burned down.

If it wasn't an ABC Store on the corner it was a Starbucks

Walked back watched sunset on the beach. Had a little power blip at night which took out the tv, modem and reset the clocks.
