We
didn't sleep all that well, which was probably due to the hard bed which was just a wooden platform with a thin, hard wadding on top. Breakfast was served at 8am, and we had
some sort of vegetable pancake, eggs, a lot of toast, and tea and
coffee.
Our guide arrived at 9am and we first visited the Banking
Museum. In ancient times Pingyao had a lot of banks and was very rich.

We then went to a tea shop, and bought
some very expensive tea, after having samples of Jasmine, and Oolong
and Ginseng.
At the lunch Restaurant we had a Broccoli and garlic
dish, and Pingyao beef with what looked like French Fries.
As it was
pretty hot, we went back to the hotel for a rest in the
air-conditioning. When it cooled down a little went for another walk
around. There were some very interesting things on sale on the
street stalls, and one moment there would be a nice smell, followed
just after by a stench. We were not prepared to risk trying anything,
even the moon cakes or sweets.
