Hawai'i to Maui

As we were an hour away we had an early start to get to the airport on time.

We dropped Marc off, (he was flying home), then went to get fuel and drop off the hire car before getting the shuttle to the airport where we sat with Marc for at least another hour.

The flight to Maui seemed pretty quick, but it was interesting to see all the Wind Turbines as we were coming in.

We decided to get an Uber rather than risk being turned away from the bus with our case, so arrived a few hours early. It started raining on the trip, and we saw whales off the shore.

This was our Camper - #VanLifeMaui  We 'were' a bit concerned initially as the 'place' was actually units. The lady in the office was really nice and let me phone VanLife and we waited across the road in the park. We had the odd rain shower while waiting, but it was pleasant enough on the the beach. Adam turned up with the truck, and gave us a very comprehensive overview.

We went to the grocery store then around the top of the island to a place called "Surfs Up."

Nice to see Bundy Ginger Beer so far from home

"Surf's Up"

Plenty of marine-life to entertain us

Nessie???

We parked and spoke to a local, Greg, who told us about his son a pro surfer

The plentiful whale show was amazing while we had our wine and cheese.

There were a couple of issues with the van: no working radio, no working aircon, leaking sink, no windshield washer, no tea towels, a noise front right wheel, squeaky seats, and the cooking gas nearly empty.

  1. No motorhomes available on Mauri at the time Chris tried to hire one and we were under the impression that we had hired a more modern van. This old V8 was expensive on fuel.
