Hawai'i - Waimea

The Waimea Valley, where we were staying, is a big cattle producing area, with plenty of Ranches. This drive took us up the Kohala Mountain Road to the Pololu Valley Lookout and trail - yes, down into a valley again!

No road down here (only the walking trail), so put your trash in the can

A black sand beach at the bottom

I thought "we're in for trouble here!" but luckily he has good balance

We saw whales from this lookout

We found a nice little park at Keokea Beach to have lunch.

And despite the sign below, there were the obligatory cats and chooks (I don't think they can read!)

Driving along we saw another breaching whale, before we arrived at Spencer Beach, and spent the afternoon swimming, relaxing, and enjoying more whales and turtles.

Darryl had heard about the 'Petroglyphs' so we searched around Holoholkai Beach to find them, and were eventually pointed in the right direction.

When we saw this coming we tried to hurry up, but the Petroglyphs were so interesting it was hard to leave
