This stop was only an over-nighter so we tidied up, and dragged our bags back over the bridge back to bus station. We had food at the Grill, then boarded the coach.

Always keen to check out a cemetery |
Unfortunately, the 'fire in a distance' that we had earlier seen turned out to be a fire along the road that we had to pass. Authorities closed the road, and we were held up at the Toll station for 2 hours with the fire on the mountain. Hundreds of cars drove along the emergency service lane, blocking police, ambulances, and fire trucks and then abused other drivers hindering them from rejoining the lanes of traffic.

The fire is on the other side of this range, and threatening the road |
|
This is a real traffic jam...we are all at a standstill... |
|
Apart from all the people hogging the breakdown lane to get through...even the Police had trouble |

Koulara lunch stop |
It was a 4 hour trip with one major stop for half and hour for toilet and food break at Kouloura. We misunderstood info about ferry and bus service, (the coach goes 'on' the ferry to the destination), and had to run back to the terminal to buy our tickets for the ferry, but made it back in time.

Levante Ferry to Zakynthos |
|
This was entirely made of butterfly wings |
We found a spot at the front of the lounge for the 1 hr trip across. The Captain announced it was compulsory for masks, but of the thousand odd on the ferry, only two others, (beside us), put their masks on.
The bus came off the ferry and took us to Central Bus Station at the port town of Zakynthos, where we found all the local busses were finished for the day, so ordered a taxi. The driver was very nice and only charged us 27 euros (recommended price). We arrived at Sunbliss and were shown to our apartment. It looked very nice, up one floor with a view of the ocean. The Supermarket was directly underneath us.
