Morning brought the opportunity to view the sunrise over the wetland, and to go for a walk to check out all the birds.

We spent the entire day relaxing, reading, taking photos (I think you can tell!), and swiming in the Thermal pool.

The very neat and clean camp kitchen

Alan and Dell went for a paddle in the complimentary kayaks, and in the evening Dell went to the other side of the wetland (caravans were parked all around the perimeter), to a free concert put on by one of the guests.

One slightly worrying thing, for us, was lightning all night in distance. There was no sound, so it was far away, but we were highly aware that we were in black soil country and even a small amount of rain can put paid to plans.

  1. Lara Wetlands located on the Landsborough Highway is a popular spot for those traveling to or returning from Northern Australia. https://www.larawetlands.com.au/
