Kimberleys Trip 22 May 2019
Stuarts Well had a Camel calf, 2 emus, and lots of galahs in trees. We started seeing a few derelict vehicles along the way.
The maximum speed here is 130km/hr. Spotted another Wedgetail eagle on a carcass at the side of the road.
Heading to Uluru, we stopped at Kernot Range Rest Area for a late morning tea. With flynets & flyspray stopping was now tolerable.
It was very surprising to see lots of runners along the road! There are crazies around who are crazier than us!
One of the first stunning sights is a mountain called Mt Connor.
I believe this is part of the same rock formation as Uluru and the Olgas. Lots of Casuarinas grew beside the Lasseter Highway.
We arrived at Yulara Camp Ground set up camp, had lunch, dropped the camper-trailer, then drove to the Olgas.
A couple of the short walks we did were 'Valley of the Winds', then 'Walpa Gorge', before going back to the lookout area to watch the sunset on the Olgas. Bus tour groups had antipasta and wine, and Darryl went back to the car to get snacks for us and some wine for me.
Back at the overflow campground we had a loud sound from the Power Station all night, but it was a white noise so wasn't as bad as it could have been.
