Kimberleys Trip 29 May 2019

In the morning it was 3oC, and we decided not to do the walks at Redbank Gorge and drove to Glen Helen Gorge.

Mark & Rebecca were having a coffee in the Cafe and booking in their car for some repairs in the Alice. The next gorge was Ormiston Gorge, and we went for Ghost Gum Lookout walk then back through the Gorge. It was all terribly burnt out.

We also saw Peter briefly. Headed off to the "Ochre Pits" for lunch, and a look at the coloured rocks.

Just beside us beautiful blue-tailed Spinifex Wrens came out to check out our crumbs.

Coachloads of people came arrived, as this is definitely on the tourist run. After going to the lookout we went in to Serpentine Gorge Chalet, and set up early to take a break. A lot of the campsites were burnt out, but as soon as we found one which still had green trees around it, (and it was large enough for us to drive in and turn around), we stopped.

Darryl decided to go up the road for a look as one of the reviews said there was a walk about a kilometer after the 4x4 sign (which we passed). He found the dam and the trails to the Larapinta Trail.

We definitely had the best campsite available, with green trees, not burnt out, and a big roundabout. A lovely campfire meant we had delicious smokey food, and watched the stars, and had a bush shower since there was no-one around.

Top left see that we were enjoying the "Southern Cross"
