We enjoyed a great night with no wind, and got away early, heading to Georgetown for fuel.

We always enjoy seeing the majestic Plains Turkeys, and there were also plenty of wallabies, alive and some, sadly, dead along the road.
At Cumberland Chimney, (which had been our second choice for a camping spot, but once we saw how packed out it was were pleased that we had stopped at the Gilbert River), we stopped at the dam which had lots of waterbirds. The one toilet was stinking due to overuse, and none of us went near it.
A man came over from his house across the road to tell us about Forsayth Dam, which was being done up as a tourist spot. After a bit of chat it turns out that he's related by marriage to Darryl, and also to me! I get this serendipitous stuff happening all the time.
The road to Cobbold Gorge was supposed to be terrible, but actually wasn't too bad.
We set up and Dell and I went on the Gorge cruise at 1:30. It started with a walk, over hot sandstone across a Glass Bridge, from which Dell spotted a freshwater crocodile and a turtle.

Our cruise through the gorge |
While we did the cruise, Darryl walked to Russell's Lookout and returned via the loop walk.
The lookout provides a limited view but he could see the helicopter doing scenic flights over the gorge, (unfortunately, the photo of the helicopter were too small).
After returning to the resort we went for a swim.
