North Queensland - 14 Sep 2021

Morning mist rising over the weir

Apart from quite a lot of fish, the water was like a mirror

Al & Dell took off for Herberton, while we went to Mareeba to catch up with Darryl's cousin, Christine. It was lovely to see her again.

We did a bit of shopping there, then headed for Lake Tinaroo. At one point there was a huge goanna crossing the road.

I've never been to Lake Tinaroo before, so was really impressed. Darryl is contemplating (or maybe looking for fish!)

It's obvious they don't want you going across the wall

We decided on Kauri camp after checking out a few different spots. It was a lovely grassy area clean with almost new toilets.

The whole place had lots of birds with Plovers, ducks, wood-ducks, and knock-knees.

  1. I was impressed with the changes made at Tinaroo Dam since I first went there in the late 60s. Now there are a number of camping areas run by National Parks and I was impressed with they were maintained.
