Darryl took off early with his torch to the top of Blencoe Falls, on our side of the creek, before everyone else rose.

If you look closely you can spot the lookout where we were the previous day |
It was a 30min walk from the gate one way and he was back in time to help pack and we headed off before 9am.

Proof that Dell and I were there... |
We drove back to the coast through pockets of National Park and passed what looked like several Kauri pines not far off the road, (Kirrama Range Road).
There were a few really fantastic lookouts, and Society Flats Rainforest Walk, which was lovely and confirmed Kauri pines grew there. Magnificent examples of Cadagi, Brown Walnut, Paperbark Satinash and Rose Gum were beside the short track.

In Cardwell we stopped to visit Dell's cousin Bill & Anne for morning tea, where we learnt a lot of the history of where we had just spent the last couple of days, as Bill used to work up around the Kooma Range Top track-cutting and timber-cutting for the family business. They explained how the Atkinsons, (we passed the Atkinson's graves), caught Black Brim in the Herbert River and released them in Blancoe Creek thus answering how the fish managed to find their way up a 320m waterfall
Then we drove south to Ingham and called in to see Bill's daughter, Christine at the medical practice.
At that point we split up with Al and Dell, as they were returning as quickly as possible to Rockhampton. We arrived in Townsville, and went to my brother Steve's. Steve and son Justin just arrived home with Justin's new car.
Heather was at the hairdressers.
We went out to dinner at the Thai Restaurant to celebrate Heather's 50th birthday, and had a lovely evening with absolutely delicious food, and lots of friends including neighbour Sue.
