We were lucky enough to catch a good look at a Cloncurry Parrot, but not quick enough to get a photo. We had enjoyed the Cloncurry Lookout, so sent Al & Dell for a look before turning north.
Morning tea was at Peter Smith lookout, and lunch under a tree at Burke & Wills (as you were only allowed to eat at their picnic tables if you bought their food), where we were entertained by the Apostle birds.
We arrived at Gregory and John who had driven up directly from Mount Isa was sitting under a tree, reading his book and waiting for us.
On the way to the free camping area at Gregory River there were emus and, several swarms of Locusts.
Gregory River free camp was pretty busy, and there was a bit of too and fro before we found a suitable spot where we could all camp close to each other.
A friendly couple near us, Mary and Ray, invited us all to share Happy Hour with them after a float down the river.
It is free camping at Gregory River and it was even harder to find a spot for those who turned up later.
