Kimberleys Trip 7 June 2019

It was 17oC this morning...almost hot!

We made the decision to go back to Kunnanurra, get supplies, and go via the bitumen to the other end of the Gibb River Road and come in from the West to see what we wanted to see. We spoke to too many people who had sustained major damage to their vehicles and vans, and there is pretty much nothing along the section of road up to Manning Gorge which we want to visit. It had taken one couple 6 hours to do the 300 odd kms, and they had broken their back suspension doing it. For one long stretch the maximum speed was 20kph. We decided it was not worth damaging our vehicle & camper. Darryl had also been having trouble with his back, and not sleeping well, so his concentration would not be as good as it should be. We saw Corellas & a dingo.

Lot's Pillar

We had morning tea at Bow River then fueled up at Warnum. After a rough drive in we arrived at the Bungle Bungles, registered, found a campsite, then headed to the lookout for the sunset.

Who should come walking up the track but Malcolm and Narelle (the rellies we had met at Adelaide River)! And, they were camped near us, out of 106 campsites to choose from. Malcolm told me that he had phoned his father and the family had out from Germany and Frederick, (his great grandfather), and Charles (the one on our line) were brothers. The family originally settled in the Scone district in NSW.
